Staying calm under fire, clutch, keeping your cool, all terms associated with mental toughness. In order to reach greatness in anything, there will be a time that you need to have your best performance under great pressure. Pitching an idea to a group of investors, making a 3-pointer at the end of a game, doing well on an important test, or playing a difficult piece of music in front of an audience, these are the moments that define us. Without training there can’t be opportunities to shine in these tough situations but the ability to stay calm and execute a plan when your nerves are fried is a special skill. It’s a skill that can only be practiced by putting yourself in high pressure situations. Getting to know yourself in these situations prepares you to stay mentally tough in other big moments.
To JUMP or not to JUMP | NYC Olympic Weightlifting Gym
Cues are very important for any athlete, one particular cue I don’t like in the sport of Olympic Weightlifting is “JUMP”. Saturday 8/25/12 Recap | NYC Olympic Weightlifting Gym
Saturday Training went pretty well, Snatches were a bit off so we took it down and focused a TON on positioning. Keep in mind that those little technical errors you get away with, with lighter weights become BIG errors with heavier weight. For those that ignore positions, it WILL catch up to you sooner or later. Train SMART!
